Show or Hide Data Items

Change the visibility of data items in your visual.

Overview

Sometimes, to avoid confusing your viewers, you may not want to include specific data items in your visual. For example, data items that have zeros and null (N/A) values often clutter your visual with unnecessary noise. Viewers may not trust your data when they see the presence of unknown and uncategorized items. Hiding these data items and values can give you more relevant, understandable data to analyze.

Zeros

Data items that do not have any subject members or event occurrences.

N/A

Data items that have a metric value that cannot be computed given the information available. N/A values will also appear when the analysis population does not meet the aggregate thresholds. For more information about why data items with N/A values appear in your visual, see Null Values in a Visual.

Unknown

Subject members or event occurrences will be counted in this data item when:

  • Their attribute value does not exist
  • Their attribute values is mapped to the special (unknown) dimension member in the analytic model
  • Users don't have security access to their attribute value

Uncategorized

Subject members or event occurrences will be counted in this data item when their attribute value does not fall under any of the data items. This means the attribute value is not mapped in the analytic model.

Others

Subject members or event occurrences will be counted in this data item when their attribute value falls under one of the overflow data items.
